Foundations After School
 

At DCP, your kids will have loads of fun in a safe environment while learning life skills through theatre: Teamwork, Problem Solving, Communication, Focus, Empathy, Respect, Cultural Awareness, Self-Confidence, and Creative Thinking.

Foundations After School offers structured theatre-based activities combined with creative free play, both indoors and at our outdoor stage, as well as homework time, snack time and water breaks.  Each day of the week, we focus on a different aspect of theatre with a one hour activity, from behind the scenes to on the stage, and everything in between! Your children can explore story-telling and acting, through movement, music and the art of vocal expression; or can create the scene with set building and costume design; or perform musical theatre.

Class size limited to 20 students per day, grades K-5.


WHEN: Monday-Friday from 3:00pm - 6:00pm . Your child may join us for any number of days per week beginning with the first day of school August 3, 2021. DCP follows the CSD school calendar and will be closed on school Holidays. Rolling Registration, open through March 15.

WHERE: All classes are held at DCP, 141-B Sams Street, Decatur, GA 30030. 

TRANSPORTATION: DCP will provide walking transportation to DCP from Talley Elementary. For students attending other schools, parents/guardians will be responsible for transportation to DCP.

WHAT TO BRING: Students should bring a water bottle, light snack and their own cloth or disposable mask.


PAYMENT INFORMATION: 

  • One month’s advance tuition (prepayment of May 2022) is required at registration to hold your child's space. The advance tuition is non-refundable for cancellations after July 15.
  • Regular tuition is monthly, by automatic payment on the last day of the previous month.  
  • Rolling registration: Once school has started, if you enroll mid-month, that month's tuition will be pro-rated and automatically charged before the end of that month.
  • No refunds will be given for any unused and/or missed days.
  • Monthly tuition is NOT based on the number of classes per month.

TUITION for DCP Foundations after school is:
5 days/week = $399 monthly
4 days/week = $365 monthy
3 days/week = $285 monthly
2 days/week = $205 monthly
1 day/week = $130 monthly

CANCELLATION and CHANGES: At any time, you may cancel/withdraw from Foundations or request changes to your child's weekly schedule, subject to availability. No refunds will be given for any days of the current month if you withdraw mid-month.  For cancellations and change requests, you must notify us in writing via email to [email protected].

  • Mondays - Story Telling [Sold Out]

    Create YOUR story and learn how to tell it. Working in small groups and adding videos to the process. Arts and crafts, writing, self-reflection, stop motion video are just a few of the skills developed in this class.


  • Tuesdays - Acting, Improv and Sketch Comedy [3 remaining]

    Improv is made up on the spot. Sketch comedy is pre-written. We will be working on both. Acting techniques, memorization, stage directions and more! Students learn about creating characters and dialogue on the spot primarily through fun improv exercises and games that emphasize team work and build confidence.


  • Wednesdays - Theatre Arts and Crafts:Props, Sets and Costumes [1 remaining]

    Create sets, props and costumes and learn how to make the items from everyday objects. We'll start small scale to create the design then work with new and recycled materials to make a life-sized creations. Glue guns, hammers, screwdrivers; fabric, cardboard, found objects and creative minds!


  • Thursdays - Showcase [Sold Out]

    Musical theatre in one song per week.


  • Fridays - Showcase [Sold Out]

    Showcase Friday is a one day one time show. We will take the work of the week and put a “Broadway bump“ for the week! Put up your jazz hands and let your sparkle fingers twinkle as we work together on different songs each week. Part of building theatre skills is comfort with a stage.
    In Fall, each Friday students will learn a song with choreography and costumes, which we video record and send a link to families to view together.
    In Spring, on Fridays we will be working on the musical Annie, Kids, with a performance at the end of semester.

AUTHORIZATION AGREEMENT I hereby authorize Decatur Community Players to initiate automatic debit entries to the account listed below. I understand that automatic debits will be posted to my account on the last business day of each month, for my registered monthly tuition (the above 'Amount Due') for the next month . This authorization will remain in effect while my child is enrolled in the DCP Foundations After School for the 2021/22 school year.
In the case of rolling registration after school starts, if I enrolled mid-month, I authorize the above plus a one-time pro-rated amount for that month.

ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER OF LIABILITY & INDEMNIFICATION,
and MEDIA RELEASE FORM

I understand and acknowledge that participation in any activity can be hazardous and I realize that no one should enter into a recreational activity unless the participant is physically and medically able to do so. As the participant's parent/guardian, I assume all risk associated with this activity including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants and/or equipment, effects of weather, equipment failure and/or condition of activity area. I fully understand that it is my responsibility to ascertain if this specific activity contains other elements of risk that could prove harmful to the participant.
Having read this waiver and in consideration of acceptance into the program, I and anyone entitled to act on my behalf do hereby release, hold harmless, and agree to indemnify Decatur Community Players, its directors, officers, agents, contractors, employees, and volunteers, from and against any and all damages, or claims of damage to persons or property arising out of or related in any manner to the participant's activities.
Furthermore:
1. I certify that the participant does not have any medical conditions that would prevent participation in this program.
2. In case of serious emergency or illness, when the emergency contact/parent cannot be reached immediately, I hereby authorize the provider to obtain emergency medical care.
3. Media Release: I grant permission to use the participant's name, quoted material, and any photograph/ videography of the participant for the purposes of archival documentation and present/future Decatur Community Players publicity materials including newspapers, magazines, and Internet applications without compensation or consideration.

At any time, you may cancel/withdraw from Foundations or request changes to your child's weekly schedule. For cancellations and change requests, you must notify us in writing via email to [email protected].

No refunds will be given for any unused and/or missed days.

The advance tuition (prepayment of May 2022) required at registration to hold your child's space is non-refundable for cancellation requests received after July 15, 2021. Before July 15th, it's fully refundable minus a $50 administrative fee.
